Each of us wish to change something about our lives. Most of time our efforts to bring a change proves futile as we don’t know suitable method of making a change. What would you life to change? What would you like to able to control more effectively in your life? To answer these questions, you first have to specify your problem in a concrete way. Sometimes, what happens that there are some problems which are more difficult to specify, such as “wasting time”, ‘having a bad attitude towards school’, or ‘being too nervous and worrying a lot’.
These types of problems have been called ‘fuzzies’ because of their abstract problems and make them more specific and concrete. Problems can be made more precise by writing out your goal and listing the things that would give you clear evidence that you have reached your goal.
A second important step in a self control program is to make a commitment to change. Both a commitment to change and a knowledge techniques help college students become more effective managers of their smoking, eating, studying and relationship problems. Building a commitment to change requires you to do things that increase the likelihood you would stick to your project.

For instance if your self control program involves weight reduction, you might want to weigh yourself once a week. If your weight increases to a certain level, then you immediately go back on yourself control program. Another strategy to establish a buddy system by finding a friend or someone with a similar problems.

For other ideas on self control one can attend counseling center in once college or university. A good book on behavior modification or self control also can be helpful.
India’s performance in sports except cricket has always remained very dismal. Indian cricket players have given a remarkable performance and have also set many records at international level. India’s performance in Hockey has also improved at world level. The famous sports personalities of India are P.T Usha, Anju Bobby George, Sania Mirza, Vishwanathan Anand, Naranyan Karthikeyan, Mahesh Bhupathi, Pankaj Advani, Leander paes. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. Ravi shastri, Abhinav Bindra, Jaspal Rana, Anjali Vedpathak, Mohinder Amarnath. All these Sports personalities have given tremendous performance in sports. Even then the list of shining stars of sports the list of famous sports personalities is very shorts. We need to increase the number of gems in India to improve India’s performance in sports at International level. The number of sports persons in comparison to its total population is very less. Government of India is Required to take some judicious steps to improve India’s performance in sports.
First of all Indian government is required to review its policy regarding sports. We need to do the research on reasons of dismal performance in sports. We need to make following changes for improving our performance in sports.
The selection of players for various sports should be done strictly on the basis of performance.
Government should make provision for free training of a talented sports person.
There should be provision of investment by private industrial houses in the field of sports.
The players can be provided a training of international standard if private companies will start investing in the field of Sports.
Government should try to generate more career options for sportsmen to provide them financial security.
Political leader should take serious interest for improving India’s performance in sports.
Government should make arrangement of foreign coaches for training the players.
A spirit of nationalism should be developed in players for improving their performance in games at international level.
New and young players should be given chance to perform in various games.
Players should be kept away from media hype.
There should be arrangement of strict punishment for players if they don’t play any game honestly.
There should be regular check of performance of players who are sent to play at international level.
The sports academies should be established in rural areas also.
The organizers should make proper arrangement for healthy diet of players.
There should be provision of security of women players to increase their participation in games.
The morale of the players should be boosted on regular basis through their encounters with sports personalities.
Indian government is required to fill the gap in government sector and private sector for improving India’s performance in sports. Government should involve private sector for development and growth of sports infrastructure in India. If it is not possible in all sports then it should make arrangement of such kind of investment for some main sports such as cricket, hockey, tennis, Football etc. Government should also make arrangement for providing facilities to private sector companies for their contribution in sports. government should provide them tax exemption. The public and private partnership for sports development is at budding stage in India.
In this way the administration should prepare a well thought strategy for regulation, control and development of various sports. If India can become a superpower in Information Technology then it can also be a super performer in sports.
Indians are in habit to follow policy of ‘ look to west’ in every walk of life. Either its matter of eating habits or for method of running administration they always prefer western style to Indian style. Up to some extent westernization is justified but this trend has started undermining our every institution and has eroded our socio-cultural values. It has proved severe blow to Indian culture. Young generation adds much importance to western style of living and Indian society has moved towards flirt femininity due to western effect. Young Indian men are also loosing their ethics and morals in a mad rat race after western culture. Indians have a false illusion that by giving western touch to their looks they can become modern and up to date and this attitude is not rational.
Indian people usually remain confused about meaning about meaning of word ‘Modernization’. They consider it as substitute for word ‘Westernization’. Famous scholar Mr. M.N.Srinivasan used the term westernization fro modernization as he contended that modernization presupposes rationality of goals. Hence we can not use westernization as synonym for modernization. Mr. M.N. Srinivasan defines westernization as “the changes brought about in Indian society and culture as a result of over 150 years of British rule”. Establishment of scientific technological and educational institutions, rise of nationalism, new political culture and leadership in the country are also by products of westernization according to him. In this way westernization has caused many significant developments in various fields in India.
Modernization means to make a system, method etc more suitable for use at present and involves rationalization too. Westernization can not be called modernization in present Indian context as its not proving suitable for Indian society. It has spread many social evils in Indian society such as Drug addiction, Drinking, Wife Swapping, Extra marital affairs, Premarital sex etc. It has attacked severely on roots of our culture. We are loosing faith in our relationships in our personal lives and rate of crimes has also increased under its influence.
There is no denying fact that our leaders borrowed some ideas from West during independence to run administration successfully as they felt that western countries have more experience of running administration. Our leaders and freedom fighters fought for our freedom as they knew that western culture has some side defects also. If they preferred Indian life style to western then it does not mean they were not modern in their approach. We at present time too need to take some lessons from west for removing poverty, unemployment, communal differences, illiteracy, corruption etc. but we should not unique and we should work for its progress. Western world need to learn many things from us. They need us more than we need them. In fact we need to be modern in real sense. So, every time we need not to look towards west for being modern.
